You don’t dash around the city, leaping over obstacles and dodging the occasional blast of fire.
No, you do it in the country.
Welcome to the Mid-Atlantic Super Spartan Race, a truly devilish, eight-mile endurance contest, taking registrations now for August 25 and 26.
Imagine a cross between a 10K and Wipeout. Now imagine if it were designed by seven ultra-marathoners and a former British Marine. Now ask yourself why you’d want to do such a thing.
That question answered, you’ll head to Morven Park in Leesburg, where you’ll go off in a heat with as many as 250 fellow competitors. Beyond that, well, you won’t know. But you can probably expect cargo nets, hoses, jousting sticks and crawls through mud under barbed wire. Also: something called “Hell on Earth” (yes, it involves fire).
Now, you can compete with a partner in a two-man relay format. But if you go it alone and finish in the top three, you’ll be entered into the Spartan Death Race, a 48-hour endurance test that most people don’t even complete.
So maybe don’t finish in the top three.
