Lunatic method actor and known Oscar-magnet Daniel Day-Lewis has decided to quit acting, reports Variety, sparking bouts of contained glee from every other actor in Hollywood but especially Leonardo DiCaprio, because dude loves Oscars.

Barring an MJ-like comeback tour, your last chance to see one of the most interesting actors of our generation in theaters will be this Christmas in Phantom Thread, his second collaboration with director Paul Thomas Anderson after There Will Be Blood. Likely, it won’t be bad.

Now, we’re a little skeptical when it comes to an artist quitting at the top of his game. But Day-Lewis is extremely selective of his projects as it is, and, if reports are true, gave up acting for a good chunk of the late '90s/early aughts to work as a cobbler.

Man. I bet Daniel-Day Lewis is dope at cobbling.
