Sobremesa.

A Spanish word that defies direct translation, but basically refers to that happy feeling you have after a great meal with family and friends and whoever where you just linger and chat for hours.

It’s also the philosophy behind the now-open Las Alcobas Hotel in Napa.

What you have here is a leisure palace situated on 3.1 acres with the centerpiece being Acacia House, a historic farmhouse that was architecturally preserved, but renovated to completely update its six rooms with things like oversized tubs, balcony fire pits and views of Beringer Vineyard.

In other words, whatever you had planned for Cinco is no longer viable in any way.

And if you can’t snag one of those six rooms, don’t worry. They’ve got 62 other brand new ones, all with vineyard or estate views and giant windows for the longing gazes you and your date have been saving up.

Mornings, feel free to relax in the spa after your gratis not-at-all-continental breakfast at the Acacia House restaurant, which’ll also be open for dinner come mid-May. The pool bar’s open now, though.

Yes, there’s tequila.
