From a Former Schwa Chef...

A New Neighborhood Spot for Strange Sodas and Chocolaty Chicken

Land of strange sodas.
Chocolaty chicken? Sure.
You should bring a date.

This uncontrollable urge to pen a haiku brought to you by Entente, a decidedly Zen destination for strange sodas, mezcal on tap and pumpkin tres leches. It’s taking reservations now, it opens next Friday in Lakeview, and this slideshow is nice.

Given the stuff above, you may not be surprised to learn that the chef formerly lent his talents to the Michelin-starred Schwa. Here, his ever-evolving menu juxtaposes highbrow takes on American classics (like the wedge salad) with truffle rice and a chicken dish that incorporates coffee and chocolate. Which is only weird if you let it be weird.

The dusky, 20-seat dining room deals heavily in wood, with a plot of microgreenery separating you from the bar. Between you and your date (you’re with a date), you should probably order a handful of dishes, plus dessert.

As for your thirst, allow your server to suggest a drink pairing. The results vary, but thyme-infused draft mezcal drinks and fig-and-shiitake sodas are not out of the question. Just so you know.

And please stay tuned for special tasting menu dinners hosted in their back room.

We’re asking politely.
