There’s nothing about those words that sounds unappealing.

Maybe “at.”

But come, let us away to, yes, Cambria Beach Lodge, a 27-room oceanfront boutique a mere three hours from the traffic, construction and yapping phone-people of the city. It’s now open and it looks precisely like this.

You know the deal. You’ll bring a date up here to liberally sample Rhône and Bordeaux-style blends. Do Hearst Castle. Maybe some surfing, barbecuing and/or antique-acquiring. And now you know where you’ll be staying.

At this utterly beachy hotel along a protected ocean reserve that the sea lions and whales seem to enjoy. Cozying up with that date by your fireplace under Faribault blankets while staring at the water. Approving of the Iron and Resin–made art that surrounds you. Utilizing the provided hand lanterns and binoculars to pull off an amazing Hardy Boys–like caper by the shore.

And if discretion is a priority, you’ll want the private beach house suite that has double patios, a full kitchen and a jacuzzi tub.

You’ll probably want it regardless.
