Claire Danes has already won a couple Emmys for Homeland. Deservedly so. But when an Emmy prediction site puts the leading lady at 66/1 to win Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series this year, I become insulted on her behalf. Kind of. As insulted as one can be when he thinks the other nominees are also quite watchable. And when he has no personal ties to Ms. Danes.

But the point is: Claire (I call her Claire now) continues to impress as the bipolar counterterrorist genius that is Carrie Mathison. She’s a ball full of manic energy, poor life choices, good instincts and sharp intellect who can say more with wide eyes and an annoyed sigh than most can convey with actual dialogue. Put it all together, and it’s difficult to take your eyes off her when she’s on screen. And five seasons in, that continues to result in some pretty compelling, binge-worthy, Emmy-worthy TV.

So, 66/1? Come on, Emmy prediction site and people who actually vote.

Let’s show Claire a little respect.
