It’s getting colder out there. You probably noticed. If you didn’t notice, congrats on making sound geographical life choices.

But don’t worry. There’s a tried-and-true remedy for times like this. And we’re not talking about fireplaces (although, seriously, get to a fireplace). We’re talking about the most classic of beverages for righting these weather-related transgressions.

We call it the hot toddy. Because that’s what everyone calls it. And it’s an agreeable, versatile number. If you like whiskey, use whiskey. If you prefer rum, great. If you want to sub tea for water, by all means.

Just make sure it’s hot. That part is key.

Hot Toddy

2 oz whiskey or dark rum
1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
1 tsp honey
4 oz boiling water or tea

Combine all ingredients in a mug and stir to combine. Garnish with a lemon wedge and a cinnamon stick.
