This concerns tater tots and beer.

So we’d better get right to it.

Make your way to Bar Louie, a sprawling indoor/outdoor hangout wherein beers, tater tots and sports happen, now open at the Shops at Park Lane.  (See the slideshow here.)

You might know these guys from their many locations across the country. But this is the first location in Dallas proper, hence our bringing it up. And inside, it’s all wood and leather and brick with big windows, an open kitchen and—this is important—a rectangular bar sporting 40 beers on tap. You’d do well at one of those bar stools. A beer in one hand, a meatball hoagie in the other, a look of contentment on your face...

But when there’s a game on, bring some friends. Push a couple tables together, point yourself toward the TVs and share a flatbread and some loaded tater tots because that’s just a great idea. (See the full menu here.)

And if you’re still ambulatory after all that, take a stroll to the back patio. There you’ll find another bar, more beers and the joy of being outside. Not today, though. Today’s freezing. But yesterday... beautiful.
