Fall Jackets and Chambray Shirts in the Back Bay

It’s safe to say the weather is going to get crisper soon.

Seems right to start the search for a new jacket.

Okay, search over.

Meet the new Scott James store on Newbury Street, your autumnal home of button-downs and cross-season jackets, opening tomorrow.

If you’ve been to their old store (the one just down the road), you may feel like you’ve already been here. The new place carries everything from the Scott James repertoire. Only now, it’s housed in digs that feel a bit like Sean Connery’s walk-in closet from a Bond film (read: polished hardwood floors, circular clothes racks, some weathered ’60s-ish leather thrones).

Come tomorrow, you can head in here to survey their essentials (chambray shirts, chinos) or to beef up your fall threads via their 1964 collection, which is only available here. Our favorite piece: the wrinkle-free, elbow-patched navy blue Travel Jacket. (Yes, you can wear it even if you’re not moving.)

And in a few months, you’ll be able to jump on their made-to-measure service for customizing the collar spread and cut of their dress shirts to match your perfectly looped small-knot ties.

Sure, you can ask them to tie it for you.
