Lakeview’s New Bistro from a Top Chef Guy

It was a fun weekend, sure. Warm weather. Spiked coffee. Green things. But time to get serious—because very soon, it’s going to happen all over again. Dale Levitski is putting the finishing touches on Frog n Snail, slated to open in the middle of next week. Here’s how it will dramatically improve your life.

You forgot to make dinner reservations...
But you need a place that can whip up a top-notch buttermilk-fried frog leg. A Top Chef finalist and chef at Sprout, Levitski has brought you a neighborhood bistro with grilled NY-strip carpaccio, chicken Kiev, steak frites and a no-reservation policy. A big booth is ready for rambunctious groups; a snug booth near the bar for a date.

You have a lunch rendezvous...
Claim a window table for a fried-green-tomato hoagie or a croque-monsieur, its edges crispy with cheese. But there’s also something called Beef Hodgepodge, basically beef bourguignon meets a sloppy joe—or as the French would say, “Le Hommewich.”

Okay, you just need coffee.
Grab a bottle of cold-pressed La Colombe on your way to work, and you’ll be set. There’s also a big communal table, wi-fi and apricot crepes during the day, but if you need a little jolt, a slate of spiked coffees will be on offer. The lessons of St. Pat’s live on.
