Showdown: The By-Mail Custom Shirt Economy
Showdown: The By-Mail Custom Shirt Economy

It’s a golden age for reasonably priced web- or app-based custom and made-to-measure shirting operations. And that’s good news for all of us. But since you’re typically not sampling the goods before you commit, we thought we’d spare you the risk and try out three of them.

Let the battle commence.

Timepiece Tuesday: Swatch Relaunches Sistem51

It seems like Swatch has been around forever, making bare-bones Swiss watches favored by kids, minimalists, ’80s enthusiasts and, more recently,  high-powered CEOs.

But they’d gone largely unheralded by horology buffs, until they unveiled the Sistem51 line of watches at Basel World a few years ago. The fully automatic watches (named for the 51 parts hermetically sealed into the case) were made entirely by machine and boasted some impressive stats for a watch that costs less than it would to service most high-end timepieces.

And since Swatch just relaunched the Sistem51 in five new models, let’s take a closer look at what’s new:

The Four Ways to Approach Binge-Watch Shows

Tomorrow, the all-consuming, all-entertaining House of Cards returns to Netflix for its third season. Since they first flooded their way onto our screens, Netflix, Amazon and any other release-it-all-at-once studios have made it so any sense of restraint or... needing to get out of the house sometimes just flies out the window. We’re going to choose not to judge that (because we’ve consumed a few of these shows in potentially unhealthy doses ourselves).

All we’ll do is break down your four approaches to binge-watching.

Spring Forward: Your Head-to-Toe Transitional Guide

Sure, there might still be snow on the ground now, but by next week it will be March—and just slightly warmer. And the week after that... just slightly warmer, even. And the week after that... still March. But from here on out, it can only get more spring-like with each new day.

So, to help you transition your wardrobe as the ground thaws and flowers begin to bud, we’ve put together this handy head-to-toe guide.

Timepiece Tuesday: The Pebble Time
Timepiece Tuesday: The Pebble Time

You may remember  back when we covered the Pebble Steel—the first smartwatch attempting to look like a real watch—but it looks like Pebble has gone back to their techie roots with their latest watch.

Today they unveiled the Pebble Time, a totally revamped smartwatch with a color screen, slimmer profile and new interface. All aimed, presumably, to compete with  the Apple Watch.

With over a million in funding raised in less than its first hour on Kickstarter today, it’s worth taking a closer look at what all the fuss is about.
