"In the future, everyone will be world-famous for 15 minutes." —Andy Warhol

"In the future, all restaurants will be full of neon signs, wooden swings and acquaintances sharing cocktails as they hover over phones editing a riveting IGTV video of them sipping margaritas from a piñata." — Us

And indeed, it's a very 2018 vibe at Taco Electrico, Gerber Group's new subterranean taqueria, now open a stone's throw from Union Square.

Large-format margaritas served in a paper sombrero. Porch swings, dangling ever so invitingly in front of artfully hung neon. A sign, flashing "she's electric." Then, "He's electric." Then, at last, "Es electrico," if you're still looking. You'll head down rainbow stairs into a cavernous space full of bright colors, tropical plants and Instagram traps—which you should really be okay with, if you find yourself here.

Slide into a two-top with a friend and order a couple hibiscus Palomas. We won't blame you for photographing the Biggie art as you wait for your corn fritters to dip in chipotle mayo. And note, vegetarians will do well here: they've got some interesting options like cauliflower-hazelnut tahini-pumpkin seed tacos, jicama-cantaloupe-watermelon tacos (insert the skeptical emoji here), and a Oaxaca cheese-squash blossom-salsa verde quesadilla.

Have a look at it all right here. Or just wait, you'll see it on Instagram soon enough.
