It's that time of year when birds sing and flowers bloom and you start finding yourself looking for a great place to go after the Dodger game that will make everybody happy.

It's time for Piencone Pizzeria, Creamery & Pub, a big, beautiful compound where eating pizza, drinking beer and crushing cones share equal importance, opening Wednesday in Eagle Rock.

That's "piencone." Not "pinecone." Like "pie 'n cone." We're going to stop talking in quotes now so you can lay your eyes on this place.

Yes, you could accomplish a lot of things here. Things you'll tell future generations about. Such as:

Bringing a date for dinner. The kind who'll eat anything from a wood-burning oven. You'll order at the counter and banter about in a bright, white, modern household while your server doles out wild boar-stuffed arancini and uses scissors to cut your almond wood-kissed pie with beer-braised leeks, potato and pancetta.

Ice cream. That's all. Ice cream. You don't need a reason to get ice cream. Here, it's made in-house, as are the waffle cones. With flavors like Mexican hot chocolate, brown-butter lavender and sesame caramel. There's also a patio. Someone's kids may be out there. If you're trying to avoid the topic.

Strengthening the bonds of friendship. One of these five rooms is a picture-perfect bar that looks like it's never not been here. Bring your food inside or just hang out over a Smog City pils, Ventura-crafted pale ale or cocktail.

To reward your recent accomplishments in the world of pizza and ice cream.
