Downtown.

The lights aren’t much brighter there.

But there are duckling pot pies.

And musicality be damned, that’s important.

Find them at 7th and Carson, a new place to get a little boozy at over a solid meal, now open beside Downtown’s Container Park. See the slideshow.

Gather friends who can go a few rounds and don’t mind sharing things that go in your mouth. You guys will gather, acknowledge or never address the local art on the brick walls, then make your way to the patio for late-day ambiance amid trees, water fountains and on some nights, live music.

Thus begins the hoisting of Hot Melons with tequila, watermelon juice, lemon and cracked pepper. And the ordering of food from a Blue Ribbon Sushi vet.

Given his provenance, you’ll probably need to get the fried chicken wings with house dust, local honey and hot sauce.

And you’ll also probably want to try something a little different, like that duckling pot pie. Or the oxtail toast with cheese curds and eight-hour gravy.

Regardless of his provenance.

On a typical Wednesday, Ginger Harris is likely seeking reposado tequila, squeezing her way to the front of a concert or jumping on the back of an Indian motorcycle. That’s just Wednesdays, though.
