It’s Friday. Take a chance.

Turn to the nearest desirable person to you, and say the following words in a modest but confident tone, as though the idea just came to you:

“Hey, come with me to San Carlo Osteria Piemonte tonight.”

That’s where you and that person will go to SoHo and eat Piedmontese Italian and converse in a way that makes you the envy of all else in the restaurant, starting... now.

Two quick things: Piedmontese food is a little tough to come by in this fine city, but what you need to look out for is a lot of meat antipasti, cream sauces and a sprinkling of Austrian and French influence. Oh, and wine. They’re famous for wine. Second: expect to find more than a few Italian expats here, and for that to make you feel good about your decision to come.

We’ll let the photos do the talking from here on out (well, words will accompany the photos), because those’ll seal the deal for you.

Remember, modest but confident...
