Foxtail (left) is a black-and-gold lounge designed by Philippe Starck. LiFE is a colossal, strobe-lit, EDM-fueled arena for doing things of the night. The former opens tomorrow and the latter on Friday. (See the slideshow here.)
Here’s that tale-of-the-tape-style breakdown you were asking about...
Foxtail: Real urban Parisian vibe going on here—silver-and-gold calligraphy from a French graffiti artist. Ornamental dome fixtures. A 51,000-square-foot pool/club area. Philippe Starck saw to all of those things. He does this.
LiFE: Massive. As in 30,000 square feet, 60-foot ceilings and a 460,000-pixel LED wall overlooking it all. Also, an open-air rooftop pool.
Foxtail: People whispering in each other’s ears on tufted-leather banquettes under elaborate chandeliers. European people making music in front of MacBook Pros.
LiFE: Paper confetti falling all around you. Strobe lights. European people making music in front of MacBook Pros.
The Wild Cards
Foxtail: Two giant brass birdcages. For dancers. Or you, if you’re into it.
LiFE: Burlesque aerialists dangling from cables. Ziplines. Catwalks in front of an enormous visual display.
Foxtail: Everything’s better when it’s 4am/shoes are flying/you’re here.
LiFE: Three-piece cannonball?
