The Stat Sheet: NYY Steak

Hey, let’s have a big hand for turkey, huh.

Really, you’ve been wonderful.

But now, turkey will gracefully exit the stage for 360 days or so.

And we’ll get back to the important business of the Great Steak Boom of ’13.

Your latest entry comes courtesy of a Major League Baseball team that’s won 27 World Series championships. So no, not the Mets...

It’s NYY Steak, three stories of pinstripes and large sides of beef from the New York Yankees baseball organization, opening tonight in Midtown.

The space: A classic white-tablecloth power-dining situation—16,000 square feet of it, in fact. Peppered with Bronx Bombers photos and a few flat-screens above a black marble bar.
Your meat guy: ... is their meat guy. The butcher shop and dry-aging operations are in-house.
The biggest steak: The 28-ounce porterhouse. Go ahead, call it the Sabathia.
Toppings: Any steak that’s “Oscar Style” comes with béarnaise and asparagus and crab cakes on top.
Wine options: More than 300. All displayed for maximum covetability on the main floor.
Wild card: An old bank vault downstairs has copies of Yankees contracts of yore. Spoiler alert: they’re on the generous side.
If there’s room for dessert: ...

You did something wrong.
