A Late-Night, Live-Rock, Pulled-Pork Sushi Lounge

Cinco de Mayo. So soon.

(Nice of it to fall on a Sunday this year.)

You should celebrate. Get out and do something full of authentic Mexican-ness.

Like sake bombing. And sushi.

Fine, we’ll elaborate.

Bow and say hola to Barezzito, a late-night sushi lounge with a hint of Mexican influence, now open.

South of the border, this place is huge. So huge, in fact, that they decided to export one to the states. South Beach, specifically. Which, hey, that’s near you. And last we checked, you’re someone who occasionally craves sushi.

Now, if you’re curious as to what a sushi lounge from Mexico looks like, well, there are plush chairs, bold couches, a wood-slat ceiling and a big brick bar. Typically, you’ll want to come here at the tail end of an evening. Probably after a few hours of aggressive revelry. We’re thinking like 4am. That should be the magic hour for pulled pork and churrasco maki rolls.

Of course, you could always arrive earlier and make a night of it. They’ve got that bar (and it’s got sake, champagne and caipiroskas). And they’ve got this stage. It’s red and bright and hosts live rock bands Thursday through Sunday.

We assume Monday is mariachi open-mic night.
