More than 365 days into this virtual-everything era we're living in, you've probably racked up enough hours on Zoom to last a lifetime.

Sure, those work-from-home meetings and on-screen happy hours were fun for awhile.

But the novelty has worn off. Many times over.

So, here's Zoom Escaper. It offers a way to stop the cycle by derailing your Zoom meetings so badly that you have no choice but to heroically end the call.

Per the creator:

"Zoom Escaper is a tool to help you escape Zoom meetings and other videoconferencing scenarios. It allows you to self-sabotage your audio stream, making your presence unbearable to others."

To get started, visit the website and follow the instructions or watch the video tutorial. All you have to do is download a small program that applies a new audio interface to your computer's built-in microphone. Once that's complete, you can pull up the Zoom Escaper website anytime you have a call that you really don't want to be on. It has eight different options for ruining a call. Use them wisely.

When someone asks for your opinion, select Echo, and your voice will sound like it's bouncing through a canyon. Hit Bad Connection, and your voice will cut in and out. Select Wind, Dogs or Upset Baby, and your audio will be littered with more disruptive sounds. There's also a Urination option... but assuming your goal is simply to get out of a meeting, not become a pariah, you should probably skip that one.

Or, hell, hit all of them at the same time to really spice things up, producing a cacophony of annoying noises. You can also upload your own sounds, if you want to put a personal touch on things.

In the words of the program's creator, your presence on the call will become "unbearable to others." Naturally, that is your cue to apologize and graciously back away, so the others can continue without you. You'll get to do something infinitely more fun and/or productive, and no one will be the wiser.

Well, provided your boss isn't also reading this right now.
