You've been meaning to step date-night up a notch.

Or seven-to-nine notches.

Maybe even 10-to-15.

And by notches, we mostly mean courses.

There are plenty of those at Avery, a beloved former pop-up known as RTB Fillmore that's now a two-story beauty of a tasting menu restaurant from a duo whose resumes boast Benu, Atelier Crenn and Saison. It's open now and you should check it out

You and that date will cross the threshold of an A-frame on the ground floor before entering a stunning room with blue-hued Venetian plaster wall treatments and Italian-designed chairs.

At your table either down there or up on the mezzanine, you'll be faced with your first decision: will it be the 7-9 course "Cello Player" tasting menu, or the 10-15 course, seasonally changing menu currently dubbed "Shades of Spring"? The former involves things like lobster curry with optional additions like caviar bumps. The latter, well... it changes frequently. Expect greatness either way.

And of course they've got two liquid-based options for pairing as well: a mixed menu of wine, beer, sake and champagne, or a sake-only menu. They've got one of the city's best sake selections, but don't let that pressure you.

Let that pressure you.
