The Cat & the Fiddle is now the Hearth & Hound.

So they've kept the ampersand.

But some giant changes were made.

For instance, they've gone ahead and added a Ken Friedman, one April Bloomfield and an upstart rapper named Mike D.

So roll out the red carpet for the Hearth & Hound, the first L.A. restaurant from the heavyweights behind Manhattan's Spotted Pig, now taking reservations for a Friday opening in Hollywood.

No more gloriously faded British pub. Now you've got a high-powered hangout looking like a Hamptons summer home met a classic Hollywood bungalow, intertwined, had a restaurant together, then decorated it with canine-related gewgaws.

Needless to say, you'll want to go. Mostly for the...

Patio. It looks handsome, if more structured. With a fountain, olive tree, bar and spread of umbrellas shielding the heads of your music mogul/studio head/tattooed TV chef neighbors.

Hearth. Aka, the conflagrant, wood-and-grape-vine-fueled oven and hearth where Bloomfield's team will prepare poultry, meat and vegetables. Expect to share a produce-forward meal with dishes like pork with quince and verjus, aged ribeye for two and charred chicories with citrus and fromage blanc. If you'll share.

The Casablanca Room. That's the private chamber on the restaurant's left flank. Expect it to hold a lot of juice. Non-literal, Hollywood juice.

Beastie Boy. Right, yet another restaurant partnering with yet another Beastie Boy to help curate yet another dynamic wine list. Here, it's oenophile Mike D.

But trends will probably change in 2018.
