A few things you look for in a date spot: great ambience. Classy vibe. An approachable wine list. Oh, and definitely some type of extensive pickling program.

Fitting that oddly specific bill is Son's Addition, the "third child" of a husband and wife team with tons of experience between them including stints at Marlowe and Maverick, now open on 24th. Here's the slideshow.

You and your more-than-platonic friend will walk into this Mission spot and note a pleasant airiness thanks to the high ceilings, blue-and-white Mexican tiles and, well, the big glass walls that can open during nice weather. Air. So much air.

You'll sit at a table inside or out and order a glass of red from their extensive and eclectic wine list, curated by the advanced Sommelier-owner of Vinoteque. Or go for a beer from a local brewery like Barebottle.

Whistles wet, conversation flowing, you'll turn to the highly seasonal menu for starters like pork chicharrón with spicy fermented salsa or pan roasted black cod with celery root, leek and kimchi romesco. Both, of course, feature items from that house pickling program.

Again, we can't stress the pickling enough.
