Got plans this weekend yet?

Oh, you do. Us too. Cool.

But let’s talk about you going to a private Newport Island at a Gurney’s anyway, because there’s a lot of summer to live...

It’s full name is Gurney’s Newport Resort & Marina, from the same team behind that Gurney’s in Montauk you know and love. They’ve just opened a gorgeous new resort in Rhode Island. Good stuff. It’s open now, and here’s what to know about:

The surrounding lands:
You’ll find it on a private island situated on 10 or so acres, overlooking Narragansett Bay and Newport Harbor and just a short walk to downtown Newport.

The digs:
257 rooms, but spring for one of the beautiful suites with water views. There’s also a spa boasting a eucalyptus sauna, outdoor saltwater pool (significant because it’s the only one in town), and fire pit patio prime for happy hour.

The food:
There’s a Scarpetta here, a la the Italian Meatpacking spot—and they’ve got things like duck and foie gras ravioli, black farfalle with seafood ragout, and veal tenderloin with gnocchi and root vegetables.

The other food:
The Pineapple Club is where you’ll go for oysters under the poolside cabana and/or fish tacos while lounging on a day bed. Corso is the Italian-style coffee bar you’ll hit for an iced latte, caramello croissant or whatever it is people consume before noon. The Regent Club is where you’ll sip Blazing Saddles (thai chilli infused avion silver, passionfruit syrup, orange bitters) by the fire. All your menus are here for a look.

The waterbound activities:
They’ve got a boat for you to cruise around on at sunset, and a yacht for you to take over to the other Gurney’s, if this one’s not doing it for you. While on the topic, they’ve got a helicopter for that exact purpose too.

The photos you’re so patiently awaiting:
Right this way.
