The Hot List

SF Cocktail Week

Legend has it that martinis and pisco punch have San Francisco to thank for their creation (and staying power). So it stands to reason that the city would devote an entire week every year to all things cocktail. So, in consideration of your liver, we've narrowed the events down to a select few. Behold the list…

See schedule here; get tickets here

Kickoff Party at Le Colonial
MANIC MONDAY

Kickoff Party at Le Colonial

You're no stranger to a random Monday night on the town, so you should feel right at home this Monday as the city's finest mix up a mean Peruvian brandy-fueled Pisco Punch and other Barbary Coast classics. Now that's how you kick off a week.

$25, 6-9pm, May 11, Le Colonial, 20 Cosmo Place (at Taylor), 415-931-3600

NOTE: Afterparty at 15 Romolo, 15 Romolo (at Broadway)

Cane, Grape & Cactus School at Cantina
LA VIDA LOCA

Cane, Grape & Cactus School at Cantina

You probably shouldn't ditch any school that involves a healthy study-hall of boozing—taste your way through some of the city's finest curated stash of cachaças, brandies and tequilas. Who knows, you might pick up a thing or two.

$30 (cocktails), 6:30-8pm, May 14, Cantina, 580 Sutter St, 415-398-0195

Gentleman's Companion at Heaven's Dog
TRAVEL ZOO

Gentleman's Companion at Heaven's Dog

Globe trot around the world with drinks inspired by food-and-drink writer Charles Baker's pre-WWII voyages through Asia, like the absinthe-spiked Pan-American Clipper, with Shanghai Dumplings and Pork Belly Buns to keep you upright. They don't make 'em like they used to…

$30, 3-5pm, May 14, Heaven's Dog, 1148 Mission St, 415-863-6008

Bayou on the Bay at Epic
BIG EASY

Bayou on the Bay at Epic

Not like you need a reason to drink, but one-of-a-kind cocktails created specifically for Friday's happy hour in celebration of World Cocktail Week (no, we didn't make that up) with proceeds going to the Museum of the American Cocktail (didn't make this up either), but there it is.

Closing Gala at Jardiniere
FINALE FINALE

Closing Gala at Jardiniere

If you've done the week right, your tolerance might be at an all-time high, which means this bi-level cocktail bash doling out glasses of absinthe, signature cocktails and light apps will be just what you need…or it might put you over the edge—either way, it'll all come back around next year.

$45, 6-10pm, May 18, Jardiniere, 300 Grove (at Franklin), 415-861-5555
