The Cold Toddy Is Here to Save Us All

We Asked Death & Co to Create This Cold Toddy. Because It’s Too Damn Hot Outside.

There’s a time and a place for hot toddies.

Which sure as hell isn’t here and now.

But a cold toddy...

Now that’s something we can get behind. Something refreshingly vital to our continued survival this summer.

So to make this noble dream a liquor-spiked reality, we enlisted an expert.

That would be Tyson Buhler, the head bartender at NYC’s Death & Co. Because if you’re going to commission a cold toddy, you might as well do it right.

Says Buhler: “I wanted to stick with the same idea of the hot toddy and the cold-weather flavors we associate with it, but lighten things up and make it refreshing. The scotch and apple brandy are classic winter flavors, with Becherovka, a Czech herbal liqueur, providing the cinnamon and ginger spice we think of with a hot toddy. Pour it over crushed ice to keep it icy cold, and you have a great toddy for summer.”

Now, go forth with this newfound knowledge. Spread the good news. Make a cold toddy for yourself and make believers out of your friends. Bask in its cooling powers. Bask in its scotch. Keep basking, and we just might live to see September.

Cold Toddy

1 oz Monkey Shoulder Scotch
1 oz Laird’s Apple Brandy
1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
1/2 oz honey syrup
1/4 oz Becherovka

Build in a rocks glass with crushed ice. Garnish with a mint sprig and a lemon wheel.
