Jazz. It’s Just Everywhere.
This week, jazz is popping up at the Hamilton, the Hecht’s Warehouse, Bohemian Caverns... pretty much all over. Pay special attention to the alfresco shows at Yards Park, with the likes of Esperanza Spalding and Common.
If you haven’t seen the Smithsonian exhibit devoted to DC soul legend Mingering Mike, tomorrow is the time. Because three local collectors/DJs will be on hand with their extensive vinyl vaults. And turntables. Naturally.
Because there’s a World Cup going on again, there’s a game on giant screens in Dupont Circle again. Here’s the twist: our women are playing Sweden. And this event is sponsored by the Swedish Embassy. Which means a Swedish festival, DJs... and probably some divided loyalties.
