There are two categories: the gold-filled frames from the early 1900s and the bold acetate-cellulose frames of the mid-century. Every piece has been restored. They’ve got brand-new ones, too, but come on.
Think: the first pair Yves Saint Laurent was ever photographed in. Those 1960s combination frames worn by Malcolm X. JFK’s favorite pair, which he’d wear sailing in Martha’s Vineyard.
So we weren’t kidding about the “truly historic” part up there.
