A four-hour football game demands something like a three-foot sandwich by Mike Isabella. Well, exactly like that. Take your pick from roasted turkey, spiced baby goat, chicken parm or the Italian Stallion, with Italian cold cuts, mozzarella and pickled eggplant. You never do the big game without pickled eggplant.
We could use the word “fortnight” here. But we won’t. Rogue 24, which once served only epic, all-night feasts, is now rolling out a new three- and five-course menu every two weeks for the remainder of 2015. Chipped foie gras, toasted pierogies, lamb shoulder, you get it. On second thought... Fortnight.
Ah, the vagaries of the fashion industry. It’s 36 degrees out, and all the warm stuff is on sale. Embrace it, starting at Federal on 14th Street, where they’re going 50% off on wool cargo pants, plaid scarves, varsity jackets and down vests. Oh, and some bathing suits, too. For your polar bear plunge.
Heading to Santa Monica this weekend sounds nice. Heading to Bethesda sounds less nice, but it’s not without its charms. Like the sushi/taco/steak-centric Summer House, an airy, Santa Monica–themed spot that’s just landed here. Up next: a companion pizzeria called Stella Barra. Yes, you can shout “Stella” if you’d like.
Next Sunday, your plans will be less obvious. Good thing half-a-dozen ramen chefs are cooking at Mess Hall, and that there’ll also be gelato and cocktails. Regular tickets are sold out, but the VIP tickets get you in an hour early and include a bag of samples. Good for accompanying hockey viewing.
