Year No Evil

Where to Say Goodbye to 2014

New Year’s isn’t just about ringing in the new year. It’s about champagne and crab-and-pork-belly dumplings and living inside Purple Rain. At least... it should be.

Top of the Mark
THE ONE FOR THE TUX

Top of the Mark

You require: Caviar, Tomales Bay oysters and your own bottle of bubbly. Just... the classics.
You’ll receive: A five-course, black-tie dinner with that historic view, that caviar, those oysters, a serrano ham carving station and a bottle of Moët. That ham really has some competition.

Dirty Habit
THE ONE WITH A HOTEL ROOM

Dirty Habit

You require: An opulent spread, a patio and a hotel room. For later. Or in-between.
You’ll receive: Dirty Habit’s window-filled lounge and heated outdoor patio, complete with truffles, carved lamb and a champagne station. There are also rooms conveniently located underneath. Because you’re at Hotel Palomar. And you might need one.

Alchemist Bar & Lounge
THE GOOD OPEN BAR

Alchemist Bar & Lounge

You require: Beer. Wine. Cocktails. Champagne. You want to decide when the time comes.
You’ll receive: All that and... as much of it as you want. Expect a black-and-white theme, a DJ, dancing and shuffleboard. Did we mention the part about the open bar?

Chino
THE CRAB-AND-COCKTAILS ONE

Chino

You require: Dungeness crab all sorts of ways, plus cocktails.
You’ll receive: An all-out crab feast. Think: crab-and-pork-belly soup dumplings, crab noodles and roasted crab paired with shiso-infused gin or Chartreuse-and-champagne cocktails. All good thoughts.

Dec 31, reservations accepted between 6:30-11:30pm, $95, Chino, 3198 16th St (at Guerrero), 415-552-5771

Foreign Cinema
THE ONE WITH A PRINCE THEME

Foreign Cinema

You require: Well, you’re just kind of in the mood for a Purple Rain–themed evening.
You’ll receive: Foreign Cinema reimagined as an ’80s-esque, Purple Rain–inspired expanse fit for a Prince. There’ll be a four-course menu accompanied by the movie projected onto the wall. Dress code is... uh, never mind.

Dec 31, reservations start at 5:30pm, $100 (excluding wine, tax and gratuity), Foreign Cinema, 2534 Mission St (at 21st), reserve at 415-648-7600
