Quick, pick the most important thing:

A) Air
B) Water
C) Shelter
D) Laptop

Tough call, we know.

But your answer was probably laptop—so you should know about Timbuk2, the first LA location from the well-regarded maker of durable backpacks, messengers and laptop bags, soft-open today in Venice.

Picture your laptop naked. Just sitting there all shiny and vulnerable and... not wrapped in Cordura nylon with reflective surfaces. Yeah, pretty terrifying. You’ll stop picturing such things when you see all the tough but lightweight US-made bags, device cases and luggage lining the shelves of this small Abbot Kinney store with a back wall covered in colorful fabric swatches.

About those. They’re behind a computer station where, if you haven’t seen exactly what you had in mind in here, you can help design your own custom bag—maybe something with an anchor motif made out of water-resistant waxed canvas. Just spitballing.

And starting September 1, they plan to launch a share program with two bikes outside that you’re welcome to borrow for the day.

Hey, you might need a bag for that.
