Mad’ About You

Beer, Burgers and Drumsticks by the Dozen

Just for no reason on a beautiful Friday afternoon, here are a few thoughts on fried chicken drumsticks:

—Great for picnics.
—Useful as impromptu pointing devices.
—Quite terrible as actual percussion instruments.
—Simply f**king delicious.

Keep those thoughts in mind at Madison Public House, an easy, breezy, chicken-loving, beer-sipping hangout from the Innjoy guys, soft-opening tonight in Logan Square.

It looks like it’s been there forever, thanks in no small part to a Salvation Army’s worth of... well, let’s go with “treasures.” A working stoplight, a nonworking phone booth from long-closed Sweet Jane’s, a surfboard from Sheboygan. They really nailed the whole random antique store/bar vibe.

And the beer lineup: solid. They’ve got 17 on tap. They’ve also got prosecco on tap and a little something called the Jack Ass, which is essentially a Tennessee whiskey version of a Moscow Mule.

But when you just want an upbeat night without much hassle... and to order a burger, three dozen drumsticks and 100 wings, this joint comes in handy.

So will some moist towelettes and about a dozen friends.
