Let’s see, a door is good. Windows. A patio.

And any respectable house should really be stuffed with good Sonoma wine...

No need to knock at The Sonoma House at Patz & Hall—an actual house that’s home to leisurely afternoons of wine tasting and only that, now open.

You’ve probably been to these P&H guys’ Napa tasting room. But that was a while ago. It doesn’t exist anymore. They decided to buy a house from a Sonoma family—much closer to you, how thoughtful—and remodel it. To hold more wine.

Which means that at any point in your day, you’re now less than an hour from their pours. So take solace in that. Or invent a cough at work, invite your date to do the same and show up for a tasting inside—then move out to the patio with your favorite bottle, whispering sweet nothings to the vineyards spread out before you.

If you’ve done a bit more planning, you and a group can take over the salon inside for a private tasting—there’s a glass of sparkling wine to start, and then three chardonnays and three pinot noirs all poured at once, with some savory panna cottas like lemongrass-Dungeness crab.

You were just about to ask about the panna cotta situation.
