None 6 Photos The Chanric Inn vs. The Sunburst Calistoga
We’re pretty excited for you.

Partly because you haven’t booked a room for your Labor Day weekend road trip yet.

Mostly because that means The Chanric Inn (left) and The Sunburst Calistoga are still yours for the taking.

They’re both new bed-and-breakfast scenarios in Calistoga. They’re taking reservations now. And here are the results of the fake head-to-head battle we just put them through...

The Scene
Chanric: Three-story, historic 1875 Victorian farmhouse with a pool, a hot tub and an original Dalí on the wall.
Sunburst: Old motel completely remodeled with bright-green doors, bright-orange carpets and a retro, throwback vibe. It’s also got a mineral-water pool fed by the geothermal well under the property.
Edge: Sunburst. Tough to compete against geothermal wells.

The Rooms
Chanric: Seven in total, none of which have TVs. Room 2 has views of the mountains.
Sunburst: 50 total. Opt for Room 120. It’s a king suite with two flat-screens.
Edge: Chanric. We trust you know what to do in a TV-less room with mountain views.

The Breakfast
Chanric: Three courses like cachaça-infused plums and ratatouille served in a mini cast-iron pot.
Sunburst: Simple boxed breakfast. Think yogurt and Cheerios.
Edge: Sunburst. B&B Cheerios: bold move. Bold, miraculous move.
