Killer Bee Pollen and Squid on ACK

Independence Day.

Most years, it means grilled meats, Michael Bay–level fireworks and Thomas Jefferson–level freedom. And beer.

And, well, this year is no different.

Wait. It is. It totally is.

Because... this place:

Raise a flag for The Proprietors Bar & Table, a new two-floored Nantucket enclave wrought with pulled-pork biscuits and date-night potential, now open for your long-weekend consideration.

Envision waking up to the news that you’ve inherited a rustic old-timey house downtown on Nantucket. That would be great news. That would also be this place—couch-y banquettes. Creaky hardwoods. Little damn throw pillows everywhere.

It’s also got tables and servers, which is a nice touch.

So make a little time for it this weekend. Escort that date up to a second-floor nook by the windows overlooking the lawn. Nantucket squid: yeah, get some of that for sure. Shaved Berkshire pork and kimchi biscuits: don’t mind if you do.

And before heading out to pull a From Here to Eternity on some ignored stretch of sand in the moonlight, head back downstairs after dinner. Find the pressed-tin-roof bar and ask for a couple of No. 5’s. They’ve got sake and killer bee pollen in them.

Killer bee pollen. What.
