The weekend would like to be misted now.
You’ve sought it out on road trips, but it’s always been hard to come by around DC. Yep, after a few false starts, Chick-fil-A has a bright red truck from which you can grab a chicken sandwich, nuggets and sides. Or just stock up for this weekend’s road trip.
We know this: that you’ll get plenty of fire-eating, belly dancing and burlesque at these five shows, part of the Capital Fringe Festival. Beyond that, it’s up to you, as the dancers ask the audience to control the direction of things. But whatever you choose, they’re probably still going to take their clothes off.
If you want to sip the fat while you chew the fat, may we direct you to these three new drinks, featuring sesame-oil-infused gin, olive-oil-infused vodka and the coup de grâce, the Chile Manteca y Dulce, which starts with bacon-infused mezcal. Your days of vegan cocktails are over.
It isn’t like you need an excuse to eat waffles and experiment with lesser-known liquors. But here with one anyway: Brasserie Beck. For Belgian Restaurant Week (now a thing), they’re rolling out three new waffles (think jalapeño maple syrup) along with Belgian genevers. It’s like gin. And it’s for brunch.
A bit of free advice: don’t forget to have some starch to help absorb those cocktails at the bar. Like five courses of pasta, for instance, available at Fiola’s bar on Mondays. Just when you wrap up a pesto risotto, here’s a ragù bolognese over pappardelle. Tell them you’re carbo-loading for the Olympics.
