Mussels and 1800s Charm on ACK

The good news: it’s a Friday in July.

The bad news: there’s no bad news. It’s a Friday in July. This is why Nantucket was invented.

And tonight, your playbook will include killer ocean views (obviously). Some 19th-century charm. Oh, and maple syrup. On steak.

Introducing Breeze Bar & Café, your new local mussels-and-chowder date-night haven, now open at the Nantucket Hotel & Resort on ACK.

Take one landmark hotel on the Grey Lady from 1891 that’s been shuttered since 2005. Totally refurbish it, and add an 1800s-y restaurant (think: low ceilings, hardwood floors, vintage-y workman’s lights). Here you go.

So after a leisurely day of Nantucket-ing with that ACK newbie you’ve been dating, you’ll grab a two-top table in a quiet nook here. Then: multiple rounds of Cape Cod steamed mussels in a sparkling wine broth, then a Vermont-maple-syrup-and-chili-glazed New York strip (maple syrup = good on anything).

But if you happen to roll in with a small gang in tow, you can claim the communal dining table (look for it near the replica propeller steamer), before moving to the third-floor rooftop for a rummy cocktail called The Pain Killer and spectacular views overlooking Brant Point and Jetties Beach.

And, you know, the ocean.
