Things to do for June 07, 2012
Food Trucks, Seersucker and Civil War Cigars
The weekend will have what you’re having.
Sampling 20 Food Trucks in 12 Hours
You’ve got one problem with this whole food truck thing: it’s hard to get a beer. Well, until an ale truck starts rolling, content yourself with the latest incarnation of Truckeroo, where 20 food trucks will cluster around a live band, cornhole games... and a giant bar. Thirst no more.
It’s time, once again, for you to don some seersucker and show off your croquet and badminton chops at this annual garden party. It’ll start with an optional bike ride. It will end with a celebratory round of gin and tonics. Southern accent optional.
Making Like a Civil War General
You may not know there’s a National Museum of Civil War Medicine, or that they’ve got a branch on the Antietam battlefield. But you should know about this event they’re hosting, which promises three Catoctin Creek spirits, three cigars and some banjo music. And hopefully no amputations.
Eating Pizza with Two Beer Makers
Maybe you will have spent Friday and Saturday at the Savor craft beer fest. Maybe not. But either way, you’ll want to spend Sunday hanging out with a couple of great brewers while you handle bacon-and-egg pizza and sweet potato biscuits with bourbon-bacon jam. Yes, they’re paired with beer.
Three Nights with a Cuban Chef
It’s still tricky to import things from Cuba. Except chefs, apparently. Next week, Cuba Libre is bringing in a Havana chef for a three-night pop-up where you can taste four courses, like cod with lamb tongue and mango soup with five-year-old rum ice cream. (The rum is five years old, not the ice cream.)
