Meet Rumors, a bar full of game-watching necessities like grub, flat-screens and (oh, yeah) beer, opening Wednesday in SoMa.
Imagine your standard sports bar: Giants pennants everywhere, Ronnie Lott jersey strategically hung. Now imagine its total opposite, and that’s this place—a crimson-walled, Edison-bulb-lit lounge/temple of competitive gamesmanship.
There are five big screens placed advantageously around the bar, meaning you’ll always be able to keep an eye on, say, Lincecum’s start or I’ll Have Another’s run at the Triple Crown. You can grab draft pints of the usual beers or go for a cocktail from the classics-leaning list. (We also like the Desert Heat, made with tequila, jalapeño and cucumber.)
To wash it all down: pretty much all the greasy bar/diner food you can imagine. Fried-chicken sandwiches, wings, steak tacos, that kind of thing. What not to miss: the melted-brie-topped fries, which happen to go really well with the burger.
Oh, and we should mention there’s a pool table and a couple of dartboards in the back.
Those happen to go well with the burger, too.
