Steven Alan Lands on Fillmore

None If you’re naked right now, great news.

No, it’s not about bearskin rugs. (Sadly.) It’s about a new depot for handsome, made-in-America gear.

Now put on some pants and keep reading...

And welcome Steven Alan, the second SF shop from the casually preppy, New York–based designer, opening tomorrow on Fillmore.

Clothes. That’s what you’re going to find here. If you’ve been to Alan’s store in Hayes Valley, you know what we’re talking about. Sport coats hanging on plumbing-pipe racks. Maritime-blue cardigans that JFK would’ve worn for a sail around Nantucket. Piles of colorful variations on the button-down shirt. (The ones with that second button in the exact right spot for unbuttoning during your after-work beer.)

What you’ll find here that you wouldn’t in Hayes Valley: everyday stuff like tees and henleys from Wings + Horns. Slightly less everyday stuff like shorts from Engineered Garments. And then extremely special-day stuff like surf shorts from Relwen.

Should you already find yourself covered in the “handsome wearables” department, you’ll want to keep an eye on the glass cases bolted to the walls. Inside, you’ll find the likes of Retrosuperfuture sunglasses, replicas of WWII-era military-issued watches and vegetable-tanned leather wallets.

It’s not summer without a military-issued watch.
