Things to do for December 01, 2011
Brand-New BBQ, 25 Cocktails and Female Bartenders
The weekend smells like gingerbread and eggnog.
Like an Advent Calendar of Cocktails
Bad news: 25 shopping days left. Good news: also 25 drinking days left. At least if you hit up Bibiana, which is rolling out a new seasonal cocktail every day between now and Christmas, many made with homemade hooch like biscotti liqueur and almond grappa. You love cookie-flavored booze.
Drifting Competitions at Summit Point
We know you saw The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. We also know you said, “This would be so much better if it were in West Virginia.” Problem solved, as this WV motorsports complex hosts two days of drifting competitions. Yes, you can wear your coonskin cap.
Endless Chocolate at the Ritz-Carlton
For your holiday dating pleasure: a giant buffet of chocolate. They call it Chocolate Decadence, and it includes chocolate waffles, flan, cheesecake, truffles, crepes and panna cotta. Also on hand: a champagne sommelier dispensing flights. Without chocolate.
Female Bartenders, Bartending Quickly
You appreciate a fast woman. Especially one behind the bar. In this case, the bartenders (some from Philly—try to forgive them) will raise money for charity while competing in a pour-off for time and accuracy. Good luck surviving the lightning round.
Chasing Smoke Down Route 1
Your BBQ checklist just added another box: Crystal City’s new Memphis BBQ. Collectively, their two smokers can slow-cook 800 pounds of meat over hickory for hours. Then they finish it over a hickory fire while you wend your way through their extensive bourbon list. Which will also take hours.
