The Glass Ceiling

Nolita's New Late-Night Scene

2 Photos Delicatessen
The hunt for late-night food is always on, and whether you're after tacos or pork buns, you're always haunted by the nagging feeling that there's a place out there with tastier food, prettier faces and maybe even a glass-ceilinged courtyard.

Well, we just found it.

Introducing Delicatessen, Nolita's newest late-night diner and scene magnet from the owners of Cafeteria, opening Friday and taking reservations now. (And yes, that's a real photo.)

The spot is taking its time on the way to full 24-hour duty (things won't go all-out until Labor Day), but the midnight closing time will still accommodate an early refuel. Just saunter in to the open-air front room around eleven with a hunger for, say, Cheeseburger Spring Rolls or Reuben Fritters, and you'll find a new appreciation for fusion comfort food. Don't just park in the front, though: Keep walking until you get to the glassed-in courtyard where you can stretch out on the green banquettes and stare up at the stars until your food comes by. (Nothing helps an empty stomach like a view.)

Of course, if you want something a little more intimate, you'll want to take a few right turns from the courtyard to get to the minibar, a dimly lit, chocolate-colored lounge with a private entrance and private bartender that's perfect for any cozy late-night encounters you might have in mind.

The later the better.
