Go for: You can order wines in flights or to taste, and you can also grab any wine off their retail shelves to drink instantly at the bar.
Stay for: The food market locale means you’re surrounded by the best takeout in the city. Grab from the likes of Il Cane Rosso, Boccalone and Out the Door to pair with your Montepulciano.

Elixir x 30 Mission Eateries

Go for: This saloon dating back to 1858 has a weekend make-your-own Bloody Mary bar.
Stay for: They’ve got a binder of roughly 30 takeout menus—anything from Ike’s sandwiches, Tartine bakery and Fritz, to nearby Vietnamese and Indian. Delivery can be arranged. Tipping with Bloody Marys isn’t out of the question.

GAME DAY

Horseshoe Tavern x Chestnut Street

Go for: Being one of the oldest watering holes in the Marina, this pub serves up two pool tables, dartboards, a jukebox and satellite TV.
Stay for: On Friday nights, you can grab takeout from the food trucks at Fort Mason’s Off the Grid. Otherwise, Los Hermanos, Tacolicious and Pacific Catch are within throwing distance of the Horseshoe. Consider it your pregame warm-up.

AT&T Park x Public House and Mijita

Go for: Sure, the ballpark has beer and food, but you’re really coming to catch the Giants at home.
Stay for: Public House’s back door into the park means you can come here before, during and after the game to pick up the PH Burger or Mijita’s carnitas (as well as craft beer and tequila) to bring back to your seat. In a perfect world: delivery.

THE MICHELIN MAN

La Folie Lounge x La Folie

Go for: The upscale vibe makes it the best date spot in Russian Hill, balancing the class of its namesake neighbor with the casual atmosphere of the sports bars down the block.
Stay for: While it’s not technically bring-your-own, you can order anything from La Folie’s Michelin-starred menu (past or present)—including off-menu requests like foie-gras-topped steak. Which beats just about anything you’d want to bring in anyway.
