Introducing Wreck Room, a boozy sanctuary with a pool table, arcade machines, a jukebox and a 12-foot shuffleboard table, opening tomorrow in Nob Hill.
You might be thinking that this place sounds suspiciously close to the dive bars of your college days, but it’s more along the lines of your classic woodsy pub (complete with a six-foot wooden statue of a cigar store Indian, guarding the door like Tecumseh in Cheers). In fact, all of the wood—everything making up the bar, tabletops and the entire floor—is salvaged maple from the gym floor at Carlmont High in Belmont (as the best maple often is).
The long bar to your left is a good starting point for a martini or one of a dozen beers on tap, like the Shock Top Belgian White or Ninkasi Believer Double Red Ale. From there, you can check out the crowd and strategize whether to head straight to the shuffleboard table next to the dartboard or shoot some pool first.
They’ve also got carnival games like the basketball-themed Super Shot and the arcade-style shoot-’em-up Trophy Hunting. But, if you want something unplugged at your table, they’ll have dominoes, dice and Connect Four on hand.
Also, all 10 of the big flat-screen TVs will be on for your football, basketball, baseball and soccer viewing pleasure.
