The City’s Newest Burrito, in Cocktail Form

UD - The Burrito Cocktail In the city noted to be the birthplace of the martini...

In the hotel bar where a bartender was credited with the olive garnish...

Just a few miles from where the Mission burrito originated...

It was only a matter of time before this happened: a cocktail bringing it all together in one glass.

Introducing The Burrito Cocktail, a secret vodka-and-salsa-spiked beverage best accompanied by chips and guacamole, available now at Clock Bar.

In case you were envisioning a muddled beans-and-rice burrito doused with tequila, let us clarify things a bit. First off, you’ll be glad to know there will be no tortilla garnishes floating in your glass. And secondly, it’s less filling than you think.

To really get at what it’s like, imagine a very light, very spicy, easy-drinking Bloody Mary. Basically, they muddle up fresh tomatoes, onions and cilantro, add a dash of maraschino liqueur and lemon juice, then pour in the secret weapon: Hangar One Chipotle Vodka.

Because that small-batch vodka was created in 2006, it’s a non-renewable resource, which explains the cocktail’s off-the-menu status. And since only a select few know the exact recipe, you’ll have to ask for Steve, Tommy or Phil, the bartending founding-fathers of this pioneering concoction who’ll make your drink...

Then swear you to secrecy.
