Germany has brought so much pleasure to your life, whether you’re talking about German power forward Dirk Nowitzki, German model Heidi Klum, or… okay, two things. And cars.

But they’ve never brought you a good, quick-service Italian place in the Theater District. Until now.

Say hello to Vapiano, your humongous new casual pizza-and-beer hangout on Stuart Street, soft-opening tomorrow.

Started in Germany and now spreading its empire to the States (this is its first Northeast spot), Vapiano is where you’ll go for Italian grub and a tall beer with mind-blowing efficiency, followed by some extensive, not-stereotypically-German lounging.

Stepping in, the first thing you’ll notice is a real California olive tree in the middle of the room. Sidestep it and make your way to one of the many food stations, where you’ll order and eventually pay using an electronic chip card (it was easier than converting everything to Euros).

We think you’ll like the menu—it’s got everything from ham and arugula paninis to fire-roasted pizzas like the Chicken Barbeque (smoked gouda, red onions, mozzarella)—and because the place is so huge (280 seats), it’s a great place to kick back inside or out with a Grolsch or Pilsner Urquell.

Just like they do in Rome/Berlin.
