And Indiana Jones-style rope bridges. And you'll be joined by 4,499 rivals. Your reward: free beer, conveniently located next to the finish line. Which, by the way, is a ring of fire.
In some ways, when this guy is marking nearly a half-century on this green earth, it makes us feel old. Still, he spent his past two birthdays at NYC's Bungalow 8 and Miami's Fontainebleau, so we suspect he'll make out all right. For the 99th time, the city will be putting on a seven-mile race, which started in 1912 as a post-earthquake morale booster. (In case of another quake, feel free to suggest a pub crawl instead.) The upside: the legendary 70,000 or so person keg party that follows the real race. Uniform—actually, clothing of any type—more or less optional.

You'll find photos from Marilyn Monroe's last sitting, but our favorite is by Herb Ritts: the appropriately titled Brigitte Nielsen with Net. To be fair, we're not really concerned with the net.
