The Team Behind a Mano, Beretta and Delarosa Will Ply You With Tapas Now

And Gin and Tonics by the Carafe, of Course

Tapas bars.

They're great for everything.

Non-binding Tinder dates. Post-work drinks. On-tap gin and tonics served in carafes.

To be fair, you'll probably only find that last thing at Barvale, a new tapas bar from the team behind such marvels as Delarosa, a Mano, Beretta, Super Duper and Uno Dos Tacos. That tapas bar is now open on Divis. That tapas bar looks like this.

You and a date who you'd like to share one or 20 small bites with will enter the former La Urbana space to find that it is now a large thunderdome of tapas with a mural of a Flamenco dancer on the wall.

You'll engage in a little witty repartee over the drinks list, noting the impressive array of Spanish vermouths and sherries and opting for a round of Harencia Highballs with dry and sweet vermouths, Manzanilla and soda. Or something on tap and carafe-able like the red-wine-and-cola-combining Kalimotxo. Or a gin and tonic. Yes, that.

But eventually, the main dining room will call. Heed it and settle into your bright red chair for some actual tapas ranging anywhere from the squid with garbanzo salpicon to the croquetas de jamon and fried sage.

You're gonna need a bigger carafe.
