So Much Competitive Stein Hoisting This Weekend

You’ll Also Eat Uni-Caviar-Burrata Toast and Dress Like Colonel Mustard

By Ilana Dadras

Let’s have a toast for the weekends, every one of them that you know.

Uni + Burrata + Caviar = You’ll Try It
THE FLEETING DINNER

Uni + Burrata + Caviar = You’ll Try It

In LA, there’s Alma: Ari Taymor’s highly praised eatery inside of the Standard. It’s worth a visit. In New York, he and his partner just kicked off a (walk-ins only) residency at our very own Café Henrie, with things like uni-burrata-caviar toast and chicken wings with fermented blueberry. It’s worth a more immediate visit.

Tue-Sat through Sep 24, 6pm-12am, Café Henrie, 116 Forsyth St (between Broome and Delancey)

Look What’s Inside of Kinfolk
THE HANDSOMENESS

Look What’s Inside of Kinfolk

They’re hosting London-based YMC’s first stateside pop-up. Expect Damo Suzuki–inspired wide-beam hats, biker-inspired Chelsea boots and ’60s-psych-band-inspired wool ponchos. Oh, and women’s clothing inside of Kinfolk for the very first time. Which is one giant step for fashionable womankind.

Friday
And Just Like That, It’s Oktoberfest
THE COMPETITIVE HOISTING

And Just Like That, It’s Oktoberfest

Here’s where you sample an array of regional German beers, consume giant schnitzels and maybe even participate in a beer stein hoisting competition. Pump that pewter.

Sep 16, 7pm, Treadwell Park, 1125 1st Ave (between 61st and 62nd), 212-832-1551

Saturday
What’s Going On in the McKittrick Hotel?
THE WILD CARD

What’s Going On in the McKittrick Hotel?

It’s a Clue-inspired party in the same place that hosts Sleep No More: with dancing, photo booths and an open bar. Oh, and all guests have to be dressed in character. Which leaves you T-minus three days to cultivate your Colonel Mustard ’stache.

What Else Is New
Eating as the Nashvillians Do
AND NOW...

Eating as the Nashvillians Do

We’re talking solid Southern-inspired smoked pulled pork, hot catfish with collard greens, hot chicken (of course) and chocolate pudding pie. They’ll be hosting live country, too, if that’s your thing. Altogether, arguably a good enough reason to brave Times Square.

Some Very Trendy Babka
AND NOW AGAIN...

Some Very Trendy Babka

By Chloe, the corner vegan café and bakery on Bleecker, now has an adjacent sweets shop. They’ve got maple-bacon cupcakes, caramel-banana bread and matcha chocolate babka, which successfully merges two food trends the way only Chloe can.
