If we told you we predict that you’re not going to open a single bottle of wine this summer, you’d call us... something unsavory. Probably “dum-dum.” If we told you that’s because Perks has a highly advanced device that lets you pour wine without pulling the cork, you’d... probably nod in agreement and then apologize for before.
Things to do for May 25, 2016
A New Bar, Two Giant Block Parties and Old Fashioned Snow Cones
Fire up the weekend.
We Come Bearing a New Lincoln Park Bar
Welcome to The UrbanDaddy New Bar Half-Minute. Today, we’re delving into Distilled Chicago—a black-and-copper-clad lounge in Lincoln Park where your burgers are topped with pulled pork, the Italian beef exists inside egg rolls and your drinks involve rosemary, gin, chocolate and rye. Bye for now.
Four Days of Dancing and Old Fashioned Snow Cones
Fremont, haven of good times that it is, has decided to host a four-day, ’70s-pool-party-themed celebration. On day one, you’ll try a push-up popsicle with gin-infused sorbet. On day two, you’ll enjoy an Old Fashioned snow cone (pictured). On day three, you’ll eat rum-soaked cake. On day four, maybe go somewhere else.
Your Summer Sale Will See You Now
You have: Some big Memorial Day weekend plans. Apartment Number 9 has: Up to 60% off warm-weather clothing, including white officer’s shirts, anchor-print Bermuda shorts, summery Paul Smith pants and Jack Purcell sneakers. We have: Nothing else to say on the matter.
Long-Weekend Block Parties, Vol 1: Parson’s
You sure as hell don’t need a reason to swing by Parson’s block party this Sunday, drink a few Negroni slushies, eat a special boar-and-bacon beer brat and listen to some cool bands do their thing. But if you did, well, it is their third anniversary. You definitely don’t, though.
Long-Weekend Block Parties, Vol 2: Baderbräu
Baderbräu is (finally) opening their 25,000-square-foot brewery and taproom in the South Loop on Sunday. They’re celebrating with a giant block party involving live music, the city’s best food trucks, beer specials, unreleased beers, more beer, even more beer and... yes, you’re right. That’s quite enough.
