Reubens and Cheesesteaks in Civic Center

’Twas a noble man who first stacked thinly sliced meats into handheld vessels consisting mostly of flour, water and yeast.

A noble man indeed.

That was a roundabout way of introducing Fine & Rare, an artsy new weekday-only lunch spot with some wonderfully extensive sandwich options, opening tomorrow. (This is a slideshow.)

It’ll come in handy if you’re on a museum-forward lunch date. Or if you’re looking for a bite before drinks at Empire Room. Or if you have jury duty. Point is: if you’re hungry and near Civic Center, it’ll be there for you.

And here’s what you should know:

The Hall founders are behind it.
So... good food. And, bless them, it’s finally a permanent spot. You’ll find it in the old Stars space with the same beam-like ceiling and Golden Gate Bridge–colored hue. And they’ve added some sea-themed art, wooden counters and benches and such.

Yes, it’s only open weekdays.
But you can swing by their Sunday Picnic at the Presidio for some beer-battered fish if you must.

They f**king love sandwiches.
Note the housemade wild-king-salmon-pastrami and bavette-steak-cheddar-chimichurri-cheesesteak situations.

You can turn any sandwich into a salad.
If a salad is topped with chimichurri cheesesteak, is it really a salad?

Discuss.
